feeling kinda blah today. It’s cloudy and cold today.. humid, the clouds obscure the tops of the flatirons.
I really like the bright green color that leaves are first emerging. It only lasts a few days, but it seems that most plants’ leave are that color at first.
My housemate, Chad, has a girlfriend who’s moved in with us.. this happened like a month ago. She has a cat that didnt blend well in our household. The two previously existing cats ganged up on the the newcomer, they chased each other around imore vigourously than I usually see cats do..But it was supposed to be temporary, I got told, Gabby is just here temporarily.
Fast forward a couple weeks. Chad and Gabby are moving out to get a place together. Hmm. I could upgrade my room from basement lair to a room that has its own bathroom (i’ll have to discuss showers some other time).. But by this time, gabby’s cat has developed this habit of peeing on ppl’s things.. my quilt, josh and tiff’s bed several times.. you get the idea. It becomes pretty much unanimous (well, except perhaps for chad) - gabby can stay if she needs to but the cat has to go.
Then, a couple days ago, Chad tells me that they changed their plans, that gabby is gonna move in permanently. Didnt ask me, told me. Then he mentions that he already asked josh and tiff and they said it was alright.. I made it clear again that I am ok with gabby but not with the cat.
Couple days ago (monday) tiff took the day off cuz she was sick.. and i guess the cat either peed in the bed while she was in it or something. but she got cat piss on her.. then when she went to take a shower there was no hot water - we found out much later that the pilot light went out.
So after this, tiff asked if the cat could be gone.. like that night or the next day?
So what do they do.. the cat is instantly converted to “outdoor cat”. And she puts a plat of food on the back porch. I watched that food, checkin on it every now and then. Last nite, the plate was half covered with food at dusk. By 9:00, it was all gone. I figure the raccoon got it (that’s another whole story in itself).
I decide at 9:45 to go shopping.. when I get back, I find Chad lookin in the yeard for the cat. Apparently they heard the cat go crazy about something earlier. Of course, I said, it’s the raccoon.. and that the raccoon had eaten all the cat food, most likely.
What ensued was a conversation between me and chad about how heartless josh and tiff are. unfortunately, I wasnt very sympathetic because I want to see that cat gone as much as anyone. Nut you guys dont understand, chad said, gabby raised that cat from a kitten. He said that it would proly be different if it was tiff’s cat. I corrected him, saying that I would be just against it if it was tiff’s cat peeing on things.
So i guess they’re taking the cat to the dumb friends league today. I’m sure there’ll be further eipsodes to this saga.. tune in later.
